Acre Crossing Residences

Acre Crossing is now home to 32 proud homeowners, and we are thrilled to celebrate the success of this thoughtfully designed affordable homeownership community. What began as an opportunity to expand access to homeownership in Lowell has become a vibrant neighborhood where individuals and families are building stability, equity, and long-term roots. We are grateful to all of the partners, applicants, and homeowners who helped make Acre Crossing a success!

What is Acre Crossing Residences?

Acre Crossing Residences is a completed affordable homeownership development located at 652 Merrimack Street in Lowell, MA. The community consists of 32 newly constructed condominium homes — twenty-four two-bedroom units and eight three-bedroom units — sold to first-time homebuyers earning at or below 100% of Area Median Income (AMI). The residences are part of a larger mixed-use development and have helped expand access to affordable homeownership opportunities in the Acre neighborhood.

When were they available?

Construction of the affordable housing development was completed in mid-2024, and all 32 homes have since been successfully sold to income-eligible first-time homebuyers.

Application Information (Now Closed)

All application materials were previously made available for download and in person at Merrimack Valley Housing Partnership, now located at 664 Merrimack Street, Lowell, MA. Completed applications were submitted by mail, in person, or by email to acrecrossing@mvhp.org during the open application period.

To be considered at that time, applicants were required to submit a completed application, a HUD-accredited First-Time Homebuyer certificate, and a mortgage pre-approval letter from a lender.

The application period has now closed, and all 32 homes have been successfully sold. We encourage prospective buyers to stay connected with MVHP for information about upcoming affordable homeownership opportunities.
